Ricky K's Biography

Biography Ricky K was born on April 21, 1978 in Northern Ireland.

He kicked off his radio DJ career on pirate radio station KLAS Radio in County Monaghan.

Over the following seven years he worked on BCR (Belfast Community Radio) (1994-1996), Downtown Radio & Cool FM (1996-2000), amongst many smaller local radio stations across Northern Ireland. During this time he also provided a mobile wedding & club DJ service mainly to the Belfast, County Antrim & Tyrone districts. His most frequent venues included the Park Avenue Hotel Belfast, Greenvale Hotel Cookstown and Stables Bar Antrim.

In 2000 Ricky spent time in Sweden on audio production. He returned to Northern Ireland to build up his disco entertainment business.

Ricky became interested in the club scene and started to create his own mixes, played out to the crowd at his live DJ sets in various clubs in Ireland.

A diploma in commercial radio beckoned Ricky to New Zealand in 2002 after which he worked as breakfast host/programme director on several stations, including Coast FM, More FM and then as a presenter/breakfast audio producer for SAFM in Adelaide, Australia.

Ricky returned to Northern Ireland in June 2008 to continue his radio career & disco entertainment business.

From September 2008 to March 2009 he presented a dance show broadcast on the Northern Media Group (NMG) of 6 radio stations across Northern Ireland (Saturday Night Warm Up) and the weekday 3-7pm Drive show on Seven FM. In September 2009, Ricky was offered the Seven FM Breakfast slot. From 7am Monday 21st September he has presented the local radio show across the County Antrim region. When off air, he assists in production and music programming.

Currently he works freelance for radio stations including the Northern Media Group and is resident DJ Mary's Bar Magherafelt & Dormans The Opera Magherafelt respectively. Ricky provides excellent entertainment across the country at private functions and public venues. Inquiry here
